big sister... helper

Charlotte loves bathing Georgia and washing her hair.

Georgia so far is still a willing little sister.

life in vass land

About the same time last year I photographed Charlotte in the shower (while I was standing on the toilet holding my camera up over the glass!!!!), so I thought I'd do it again one year on.

here's the result. Very, very similar:

and here's Miss G today too:

still so round and gorgeous

Charlotte and Georgia

Charlotte's 3rd party has been and gone - and there are just too many photos for me to try and get my head around and edit right now. The party was great fun; despite the rain. Charlotte had a wonderful time which is the main thing.

Here are the girls having a little cuddle:

preparations for Charlotte's party

Miss Charlotte is soon to be three. We are having a princess and fairy party. My mum and I have been busy sewing for the last 4 weeks. We are making a cooking apron for all the little people coming to the party - and there are about 35 aprons needed... these are going in their party bags instead of filling it up with too many sweets or bits and pieces.

As Charlotte's cousins and friends (plus their siblings) range in age from newborns to teenagers, and are both male and female, we have had to make a variety of designs and sizes. Below Charlotte models the 5 different types:

we hope all the little people enjoy their aprons and cooking up a storm.

more on the party at a late date I imagine...

Charlotte and Olivia

Charlotte has a little best friend. her name is Olivia. They actually met over a year ago, yet it has really been in the last few months that they have cemented their friendship after attending daycare together twice a week. They are very cute together chatting away and sharing a love of Dora...

Livvy (as Charlotte calls her) came over and I gave them both a little packet of stick on earrings each... Charlotte loves these and often has earrings on her little ears. She is very good with them, using just one pair at a time ~ well at least she was before she saw the way Livvy thought she should wear them...

This first photo below is Olivia's ear (and hair) sporting her earrings...

Charlotte then thought she should add more than one pair - yet still managed to keep it neat

and here are the girls trying to look around me with my camera at Dora playing on the t.v.

too funny!!! At least they learn spanish...

Spending time together...

Charlotte and Georgia are really starting to enjoy each other. Georgia is much more aware and responsive and awake for longer periods these days, so Charlotte is rewarded by bog smiles and lots of love.

I am LOVING seeing their relationship develop. My sweet girls...

Oh, how I LOVE them.

Georgia ~ almost 4 months old

Our little snuggle bug is now almost 4 months old - and she is just as divine as ever.

Here are a couple of photos of her and her gorgeous little happy face.

You may actually notice that she has less hair than she did in the photos taken a few blogs ago and that is because daddy got to her little head (and cradle cap) in the bath... the cradle cap is gone,
yet so is her hair...

more jumping...

here she is on day two with her new trampoline...

happy days!!!

"tamperbean" (aka trampoline)

Charlotte is soon to turn three... and for her birthday we have purchased her a trampoline!!!

She sat patiently and watched the man assemble it for her; and ever since she has been jumping away with such passion. Within a couple of days her skills improved significantly and she was able to do a seat drop (on her butt) and a knee drop. She has also now added a half and (almost) full turn to her repertoire...

Her are a few images taken on that first day:

And not to have Georgia miss out on being on the tramp day one!!!

Georgia... 14.5 weeks

Georgia is determined to be sitting up whenever possible now and also we are doing a little more tummy time, and she seems to be desperate to hold her head up for as long as possible...

these photos were taken during her nap time... she woke up needing a nappy change and found herself the star of the lounge room...

naughty mummy!!

my girls...

I recently purchased some new backdrops and of course had to try them out on my girls first...

One of my darlings was very co-operative, while the other is a little over being photographed by me...

say no more!!!

and Charlotte

a split second of co-operation

followed by something like "now you know how I feel" attitude...

and closely followed by her saying "here mum; take a photo of my foot"

Oh how I LOVE them both with all of my heart.

sisters...

I LOVE this quote that I came across recently and hope that my girls will always feel this way about each other...

"A sister is a gift to the heart,
a friend to the spirit,
a golden thread to the meaning of life.

I am blessed to have two wonderful sisters who have added so much to my life.

Sending out special love to my gorgeous sisters Kelly and Julie.

Baby Zoe

Sweet little Zoe had been sleeping so much the morning before she came in for her shoot that she thought maybe she should spend the next few hours staying awake... which she did!

Zoe was 11 days old for her shoot and she could not be lulled into sleep by feeding, white noise, lights off, wrapping, rocking... you name it! After about 3 hours of trying we were about to give up when finally she fell into an exhausted sleep. The only problem was this happened at the exact moment that Charlotte's daycare called to ask me to come and collect her as she had a raging fever...

What timing!!!! Anyway, we placed Zoe down and I managed a few quick sleeping shots before having to literally run out of the door...

Here are a couple of awake shots, followed by the gorgeous sleeping girl:

My girls at the same age...

I compiled these photos a couple of days ago after I noticed that some of the recent photos that i had taken of Georgia reminded me of ones I had taken of Charlotte...

I love how even their arms and legs seem to match...

Oh how  I LOVE them both.

Baby Edie

Last week I photographed a sweet little newborn named Edie. Her big sister had some photos done a couple of years ago and we wanted to try and capture something similar, yet Edie had other ideas...

The poor little poppet was only 14 days old and suffering from painful reflux. She was so unhappy, so we were unable to get those curled up, sleeping newborn shots that I'd hoped for.

We did however manage to get some super sweet ones of her with her mum and sister, so we definitely have some lovely memories for her and her family.

Here are a few, including a couple of ideas for her thank you / introduction card:

And the delicious Lucy

WOW, it's been a while...

Funny what having a new baby will do to you...
I have not even thought about blogging for some time now!

Georgia is now 11 weeks old today. And haven't those 11 weeks gone quickly for me? She is no longer that tiny little squidgy bub, yet rather she is a gorgeous, thriving, responsive little baby. She is such a happy little girl and an easy baby ("touch wood").

here are a few recent photos of her:

Charlotte has coped better than hoped for with the arrival of a sibling and we often hear her saying things like "I love you Georgie" and "don't worry, Ya Ya's here" (her nickname for herself). She's also super quick to try and pop a dummy into Georgia's mouth (even if she's not crying), yet she wants a cuddle on my lap the minute I start to feed Georgia... She is only a little poppet herself I have to remember...

Charlotte has actually been a little sick of late with tonsillitis for a couple of weeks, involving high fevers and a horrid cough. She then stuck a bead up her nose requiring removal, and last week they called me from her daycare to come and collect her as she had another fever. She then proceeded to throw up all over me, my poor angel. So after another 5 days of sickness, I finally have my happy, smiling, sweet toddler back - and it's delicious!

here are a couple of recent ones of her:

Lots of love,

Jodie xx

Last weekend...

Justin had been off work for almost 5 weeks and it was amazing having him home. Charlotte has had the most brilliant time with him (spending lots of time in the pool), and their relationship has definitely deepened - which is wonderful to see.

He went back to work on Monday and we were all rather sad. So, to cheer him up I sent through a bunch of images I'd taken on the weekend. Here's a little look at some of them:

Georgia

Here are some newborn images of Georgia. These were taken on day 7 and day 8.

Justin, myself and friend/fellow photographer Melanie Birt took these images.

Introducing our newest angel... Georgia

For those of you who seem to follow my blog more consistently than I write here, sincere apologies. It's been a while. Although finally I actually have a great excuse...

On January 7th, 2010 our little girl Georgia came into the world. This was a great shock to me (not the having a baby part; just her coming on that particular day!!!).

I was booked in for a c-section on January 15th (with the time chosen by a brilliant astrologer - Kelly Surtees), so it never really dawned on me that the baby would come early. I mean, I knew it was a possibility, yet I thought I had it all planned...

Georgia had other ideas...

As I lay in bed at 5 am peacefully sleeping (well as peacefully as you can at 38 weeks pregnant), I suddenly felt a 'gush' of very warm water and realised that my waters had broken. Knowing that I was having a caesar (and having had one for Charlotte's birth too), I never went to a single ante-natal class. And as I sat 'gushing' on the loo some 15 mins later, I thought maybe I should have gone to at least one class...

Anyway, after a number of hours at the hospital we were taken to theatres and our gorgeous little baby girl was born at 12.51 pm.

I won't show you the brilliant photos Justin took as she was being pulled from my belly (I think only the parents can enjoy those images!!!!), however here are some from her first few days with her wonderful big sister Charlotte.

Charlotte and I...

Whilst the studio was still set up from today's shoot, I thought I might try my luck with a few pregnancy photos of myself with and without Charlotte... and my gorgeous husband was sweet enough to be the photographer!

Although Charlotte was not very co-operative, there are a couple of photos that will be a lovely reminder of her and her sibling still in utero.

Actually, despite not being in many photos, Charlotte was a huge 'help' coming into the shots to reposition me at every opportunity...

She knew that I was trying to get my silk flowing shot happening, so thought that she'd demonstrate how it was done... check it out:

and here are a couple of us together...

we may try again another day...

Happy New Year to you.
I hope 2010 is filled with much health, happiness and love.

Isabella and Lucy

Today I had the pleasure of photographing gorgeous newborn twin girls Isabella and Lucy at 9 days old. What a way to start the year!!!

Yet this was not really work; this was all pleasure, as these little poppets are my newest nieces!!!

Under normal circumstances I would not be photographing while 37 weeks pregnant and on New Years day - yet there was no hang over in sight (not drinking alcohol will do that!!!)

Isabella and Lucy were such angels for me today, and here are some photos from their shoot:

A little angel... Estella

Estella is just 7 days old today - and what a special Christmas present she is for her wonderful parents Peta and Justin. Estella makes number 5 in this family (not including mum and dad!!!). What fun.

Anyway, I am currently very time poor and have not blogged any other recent shoots due to being too busy shooting, viewing, editing and getting everyone's orders back in time for xmas, so I will make this one brief...

Here are a few of my favourite shots from today. She is too delicious for words.

Peta and Justin - enjoy your beautiful little girl.

And Merry Christmas all.

Gorgeous Christian

I first photographed Christian when he was about 7 days old - and he was totally delicious.

He is now just as gorgeous; having recently celebrated his first birthday,
although not quite as willing to pose as he was back then...
(which is exactly what I experience every time I pull my camera out near Charlotte these days too!!).

We headed down to the beach nice and early this morning and thankfully it was a lovely day and the little man had some smiles for us...

Here are a few shots from this morning:

Shayne and Jason, thank you again for allowing me to photograph your sweet little man.
I look forward to seeing you soon for your viewing.

Me...

Ok, I do lots of pregnancy shoots for other people - and I totally love them. I just wanted to do something different for my own shoot this time. Actually, I wanted to do this for my last pregnancy before Charlotte was born, yet that was in May, so way too cold for the likes of me...

Anyway, my plan was for an underwater shoot. I asked a good friend and fellow photographer Melanie Birt if she'd be interested in having a go at this with me, and thankfully she jumped at the chance.

We had such a hoot in the pool. It actually was hilarious and so much fun. We have plans for a second shoot in the next couple of weeks, yet I thought I'd post a few photos that I have already.

Unfortunately I only currently have access to a couple of the images, as I am yet to get hold of a bunch more I want to post... yet here's the sneak peek of me and my belly - underwater

I'll post a few more soon:

Little man... Harrison

This happy little man came in for photos just before he was 3 months old - the same timing as for his big brother James. Harrison was so chilled and made life very easy for me with good neck strength and a lovely personality.

He has such divine blue eyes and such a sweet disposition, he will be a real catch one day...

Below are a couple of photos from his shoot:

Belinda, it was wonderful to see you again and have the opportunity to photograph the newest addition to your family.

With love,

Jodie x

Those eyelashes.... the delicious Reece

I love this little girl. She is just so lovely, how could one not? And those eyes...

Reece had some photos taken last Christmas and I couldn't imagine she was going to be as gorgeous, yet she was even more so...

Here are a few shots for her mum and dad to have a little look at some of what I captured. I love so many of her expressions it was hard for me to pick my favourites...

Looking forward to seeing you next week Rachel to see all the other images.

Precious miracle Alexandria

This gorgeous little girl was born at 24.5 weeks! Yes, you read that right... 24.5 weeks! Little Alexandria has gone from strength to strength; endured numerous operations and impressed everyone who has met her. She came out of hospital about 10 days ago - after 4 months there and came to me for some photos last Thursday. She is approx 3.5 weeks old corrected (i.e if she'd gone full term) in these photos.

She was an absolute angel, and when we finally got her to close those beautiful eyes and have a little sleep, we managed some gorgeous shots of her.

Here is a sneak peek of some of the shots from the day...

Manel and Grant, your little girl is a precious miracle and it was my pleasure to photograph her for you. I look forward to watching her grow and thrive in the months and years ahead.

It was wonderful spending time with you both during the shoot last week. You have a really lovely relationship and Alexandria has chosen you well.

Tori and Alison

I recently had the pleasure of photographing an old school friend's children. We met at the beach on a very busy Sunday morning, yet managed to find some calm near the rocks that I love, and I then got to photograph her two gorgeous girls.

Tori the eldest was perfect for me - doing as asked and just a natural in front of the camera. She has the most gorgeous hair and skin tones and I love the photos of her in front of the rocks.

Alison is only 10 months old, so not as keen on the idea as her big sister.... however, I managed to get some smiling, relaxed shots while she cuddled into her mummy, and these are just so sweet of her too.

Jo and Tim, thanks for coming down to Sydney to have the shoot. It was great to see you again Jo, and wonderful to meet your lovely, lovely family.

Here are a few photos of your delicious girls:

See you next week for the viewing.

Jaslyn, Ashton and Zac

I have been blessed lately with so many beautiful children to photograph, and these three were no exception. We met on Saturday morning and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time photographing this family and chatting with their delightful mum and dad. I felt like I'd known them for years...

Here are a couple of each little one from the shoot, although I liked so many, I had trouble deciding which ones to post.

Jaslyn

Jackie and David, I look forward to showing you the rest of the images in the next week or two.

Charlie, CC and Abby

These gorgeous children had their shoot at the end of last week - specifically so that we could get some Christmas cards done. We went down to the harbour so that we could see the bridge and opera house, so that everyone in the world would know where they were this Christmas - (as they have lived in the States and NZ in recent years and sent cards from each place too).

Here is a sneak peek at their individual shots. I don't want to show their xmas card off yet as there are 85 people going to receive one and they should see it first...

Here is Charlie

Here is CC

And finally here is Abby

Melissa, thank you very much for working in with this busy time of the year and bringing your wonderful children for the shoot.

Ronel, Rebecca, Annabel and baby Elizabeth

These gorgeous girls that I loved photographing just a few weeks ago came back with their newest addition - another gorgeous girl, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth was 15 days old at the shoot and we aimed to capture some group shots of all the girls.

Here are a couple from Wednesday's shoot:

Thank you again Ronel for coming in for more photos.
I look forward to showing you all your images very soon.

The divine Amelia

This beautiful little 7 day old girl was an angel for her shoot today - and so very gorgeous too. What a treat for me! I am thrilled to have been able to capture her as her mum and dad are friends of ours, and it was so wonderful to see such love both between them and for their new bub. They were both completely relaxed and it showed in their precious little girl.

here are a few photos from our session:

Thank you Lauren and Geoff for coming today for Amelia's photo session. I have so many other gorgeous ones to show you very soon.

Much love, Jodie x

Angelic Emily

Today I had the pleasure of photographing an adorable little 8 day old newborn girl - Emily. She was so perfectly behaved and so sweet and calm. Mum and Dad were also very relaxed, which helped a great deal, and Emily was a lovely little model.

Here are a few photos from todays session:

Anne-Marie and Tim - thank you for bringing in your delicious little girl for her first photo shoot. I hope she slept well for you afterwards. Enjoy your precious bub.

Adorable Ursula

Lovely Ursula is 19 months old and a very relaxed little toddler... She didn't mind clothing changes, scenery changes or even being naked on the sand. She really had so many cute expressions today, so trying to catch her more relaxed or smiling was a good challenge for me.

Here are a few of my favourites:

Anna, it was lovely to see you again and a pleasure for me to capture your sweet Ursula at this age.

Looking forward to showing you lots more photos when we view.

Beautiful sisters

I have been fortunate to photograph Lara and Olivia a few times in the past years and it has been wonderful seeing them growing up before my eyes. At our first shot, Lara was very shy and not too sure of the camera and Olivia was 6 months old and so expressive. Today Lara was so confident in front of the camera and gave me such an easy time and Olivia was still as expressive as ever, shooting me some clasisic looks!!!! However, it was such a pleasure to photograph them again and see their lovely mum - and share our baby names for our bubs yet to be born!!!

Here are a few of my favourites from the day. This one of Lara is adorable:

I absolutely love this one of Olivia even though it's not her smiling face; yet after spending another hour with her today, it was the expression in this shot that jumped out at me!!!

And finally one of the two of them that I absolutely adore...

Thanks Libby for allowing me to photograph your gorgeous girls yet again. I look forward to showing you the rest of the shots when we view in a couple of weeks.

Lucas

This lovely little man is just 14 days old. He is the youngest of four gorgeous boys - and I have been lucky enough to photograph them all pretty much straight after they have been born. Therese, the mum, will be super busy now (not that she wasn't already), with four boys under four...

Anyway, this sweet little man tried his hardest to get some sleep, and although it wasn't deep sleep - we managed to still get some gorgeous photos of him.

here's a sneak peek:

Have a wonderful long weekend.

Ronel, Rebecca & Annabel

Today I had a really relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable shoot with Ronel, her two daughters and her bump! The girls were incredible - so gorgeous and co-operative, and they had a great time playing and painting with Charlotte while they waited for their turn in front of the camera. Mum, Rebecca and Annie all stripped down for a few group shots - as did Charlotte of course!!

Anyway, Ronel, it really was a pleasure meeting you and your divine girls today. I am sure all will go well for you in a few weeks time and I can't wait to meet the new bub for your newborn shoot.

Enjoy the next few weeks and these sneak peeks from today's session:

With love, Jodie x

Koby

Today I had a lovely morning photographing Lori and her little angel Koby. He was the most placid, sweet little man. Within a minute of the shoot finishing he fell fast asleep, yet hadn't made one whimper during the shoot. He can come back anytime for more...

You may remember Lori's tummy was the one that won me a couple of prizes earlier this year, so Koby already had a special place in my heart.

Lori needed to wait until Koby was a few months old for this shoot so that it was done at the same age as her daughter Amber's shoot a few years ago. Sometimes babies at this age don't appreciate the lights and all the handling, yet this little man was just great!

Lori, thanks again for having your photos done with me.

Love Jodie xx

The beautiful Lauren

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing another gorgeous pregnant woman. Here are a few shots from the day. I can't wait to meet her little bub in a few weeks for the newborn shoot.

Thank you so much Lauren for allowing me to capture this precious time for you.

BTW; more pics to be posted very soon.

Newborn workshop

On Saturday I flew down to melbourne to attend a newborn workshop. It was run by an American photography - Kelley Ryden - who specialises in newborns. It was wonderful to watch and learn and I have some new inspiration for my own little bub when it arrives in january - as well as for client bubs that bring there little angels into me in the first 2 weeks after birth.

Here are a few from the day. There are more to post later when I have a bit more time:

My little angel

I have pulled my camera out a few times in the last couple of weeks to snap my beautiful angel. She is already at the age where she's not interested in the camera; yet if she decides to participate, she gives me the cheesiest expression - which is far from flattering!!!!

Anyway, I managed a few that I quite like...

Here are a couple taken in the back yard recently when she received some new sunglasses and hat:

It was on for just a few minutes before she became too cool for it and spun it around...

On Wednesday we ventured to Balmoral to try on her new bathers...

reluctantly she turned to look at me...

and then in stark contrast to glorious sunshine... yesterday evening I wanted to get a photo of her in a gorgeous red and white dress, yet it was freezing. So instead, it's a photo in a big red coat...

she would not look at me during the shoot and only smiled when I tried to bribe her with "ra ra" (aka chocolate!). She then managed a smile, yet still didn't look my way.

I am off to Melbourne this evening for a photography workshop tomorrow. I will miss my little angel like crazy when I am gone, yet hopefully she'll be at the airport with her lovely daddy tomorrow night to collect me with a big hug and her happy dance.

Have a great weekend.

My little love

I am enjoying having my camera in hand again and taking photos of my gorgeous little angel especially. The only problem is that she seems to be asleep at all the best lighting times - early in the morning and even in the late afternoon. I shouldn't complain because it means that I get to sleep in too, yet I do want some gorgeous lighting in her pics...

Yesterday after waking from her 3 hour afternoon slumber at 5.10 pm we raced outside to try and get some shots. When I say "we", what I really should be saying is "me" as Charlotte was busy saying "no camera mummy"...

Anyway, I managed to get outside for a few, yet then we ran into a friend and Charlotte was off playing up the street until about 6.15 - and the light was gone, gone, gone...

Here is my favourite shot from the few I took. As you can see, she's busy running away from me as ever.

Precious Abbey

This morning I had the pleasure of photographing the divine Miss Abbey again. She is now 17 months old and very quick on her feet... however, we managed to grab her attention with some lovely wiggles singing ("rock-a-bye your bear" - of course) and we got some gorgeous action shots of her doing this too ("everybody clap").

This last one cracks me up... it's such a cute expression!

Sal, thank you for allowing me to photograph all of your beautiful children as they have grown from newborns. It is wonderful for me to be able to share these photos with you, and I am delighted we managed to capture Abbey at the same age as we did Jessica and Thomas.

Enjoy this little sneak peek of your photos.

Charlotte V

Well it has been a while between shoots with my little angel... morning sickness and utter fatigue meant that the last few months were a bit of a write-off for me in terms of productivity and creativity. I was also feeling like I'd lost my mo-jo there for a while and that's not a great feeling at all...

Thankfully we are now 18 weeks along this pregnancy and the morning sickness and fatigue have lifted recently, so I feel functional again! Yah!!!

That said, my gorgeous husband all all his staff have been asking for updated photos of the little angel, so here are a few to get the ball rolling. I promise that there will be lots more in the coming weeks - even though she is now a rather reluctant subject - preferring to turn her back on me or give me a cheesy smile. Nevertheless, I will do my best.

Hoping you're all well and happy - and if you feel as though I have been a crap friend and been out of touch, please forgive me... yet I'm back in the land of the living now.

Much love, Jodie xx

Miss Energy... Charlotte T

Here is another gorgeous little Charlotte! She had so much energy on the day that we abandoned our planned studio shoot after just 4 shots and headed outdoors so she could run around and be free. Charlotte had a couple of beautiful dresses lovingly made by her grandmothers, so she had a few clothing changes outdoors, yet nothing could slow this little bundle of energy down.

Here are a few photos from her shoot. There are shots of these dresses in full, yet I just love the close ups of her beautiful little face.

and this one is just so sweet and innocent I couldn't help but post it...

Kendelle and Peter, I look forward to seeing you soon for your viewing/ordering session.

Fin and Anika

I had the pleasure of photographing the gorgeous Fin when he was about 8 months old and I was delighted to see that he is as lovely as ever.

And as well as seeing Fin again, I was just as excited to meet his little sister Anika. She was the most placid little girl and she loved the camera! My type of client...

One thing that you can't possibly tell in a b&w photo is how incredible someone's eyes are - and Anika's eyes are amazing.

I have so many gorgeous shots of Anika as she was so expressive and loved the camera as I mentioned, yet I wanted to just blog a couple for now as time is so limited (as always).

Sal, I hope that you enjoy the sneak peek. Let's make a day for your viewing in the next 3 weeks (and I hope it was great news for Chris last week too???)

Riley

This is Riley... he is such a happy, sweet little man and photographing him was an absolute delight. A few years ago I photographed his big brother Tate - and oh how similar they are at this age!!! Photographing a bub with such a symmetrical, round head just lends itself to gorgeous photos - and Riley did not disappoint.

Here are a few shots from his first shoot. Lex and leisa; I hope you enjoy...

sweet boy... Aaron

Aaron was first photographed by me when he was 6 months old. He has just turned three. Since his first shoot his mum, Kirsten and I have become friends; so it is a real treat for me to see this gorgeous little man again and photograph him. They now live in Coff's harbour and we try to catch up when they're in Sydney. This time was an even greater treat for Charlotte and I with Aaron and Kirsten staying with us for a couple of nights. It was an absolute pleasure having you guys with us and having the chance to really catch up.

During our Balmoral Beach shoot on the Tuesday morning, Aaron was just way too busy to look at the camera; so smiling was totally out of the question. There was a beach full of sand to be moved, rocks to be climbed, caves to hide in and sticks to play with...

Needless to say, we didn't really capture the smile we were after in the morning, so following the afternoon sleep, we headed down my street to try and snap a few more. This was even trickier than the beach as Aaron and Charlotte (who was now with me), were so busy running off together, egging each other on... I did manage to snap a couple of smiling pics, yet even without the smile, he is one very gorgeous boy.

Looking forward to catching up again soon - hopefully Charlotte will be better at playing Aaron's games and not just steal all the pieces...

Gorgeous sisters

Here are a few shots from Eloise's first photo shoot. She was 6 or 7 weeks old at the time, and although she did not want to close those big, gorgeous eyes, she still managed to settle enough for some lovely shots.

Her big sister Sybella was typically three and not too keen on being photographed either, so it was a matter of trying to be quicker than her as she raced off the backdrop every time she was in position...

Here are a few shots for their mum and dad to get a sneak peek...

Thank you Kate and Ben for bringing your lovely girls in for some photos and I hope you had a great holiday and they slept well for you on the way there after the shoot.

Sweet Thomas

Thomas was 16 days old when he came in for his session yesterday and he was just divine. The kind of newborn that makes you want to have a few more yourself... He was calm & peaceful and easily lulled to sleep by some warm milk and cuddles.

It also helped immensely that first time parents Lindi and Matt were just so chilled out with him. I hope you like the shots guys.

Here's a sneak peek:

Thanks again Lindi and Matt for bringing in your little man for his newborn session.

first prize... WOW.

Yesterday I received an email to inform me that I had won FIRST prize in a photography competition. To say that I was shocked, (and oh so pleasantly surprised), is an understatement...

Another photographer that I met recently called me the day before the competition closed and mentioned it to me. I had no idea about it and therefore no intention of entering. When she told me the criteria was to shoot an image using a single light, I realised I had a couple of images that fit that description...

I am very lucky to have such a great pro lab who printed the shots off immediately for me as well as an awesome framer who mounted the two images as required for competitions within half an hour. I then registered online and then drove my entries over, meeting the deadline with 3 hours to spare!!!

I honestly NEVER imagined that I'd win!!!!!

I'll post the two entries here again...

It was a pretty exciting day for me, and exactly what I needed as I was feeling a little over it all at the moment... I guess we all have those times!!!

Anyway, I'll be back soon with some new posts as I have a couple of newborns tomorrow.

CJ and CJ

This was CJ and CJ when they were 6 months old.

Cameron John is 10 days older than Charlotte Jean.

Cameron's mum Kim has been a friend of mine since primary school... although it was only primary school for her (year 5), and I was her student teacher that year...

A few years later when she was in year 9, I was her P.E. teacher and our friendship was cemented from then. I am thrilled that we have stayed in each other's lives and I know we always will. My parents count her as another one of their daughters.

Tonight Kim and CJ came for dinner. Thankfully her CJ has the sweetest nature ever and copes with my CJ being less than generous when 'sharing' her toys...

We often do dinner together (a total mission with two very fussy eaters), and then bath time.
Here are a few shots from their bath time tonight.

giving me his sexy eyes!!!

Poppet ignoring me completely

She loves washing his hair (and he tolerates it)

home sick today...

Today we are home sick... well Charlotte is anyway. It's just a runny nose, yet we're bunkering down in this miserable, cold weather and just hanging out at home. Not a bad place to be really with the yummy heaters on and a house full of new toys!

Here are a few shots of her playing before her sleep today. She is so heavy through the eyes and her little mouth is open most of the time to help her breathe. She is actually playing with some of last years birthday pressies which have just recently come into their own much more.

Also, this nice comfy jumper was given to her by my friend Deb when Charlotte was born. We wore it last year too, yet now it fits just perfectly and is great for a day like today.

I have some pumpkin soup bubbling on the stove for tonight and it smells so delicious. I hope I can hold out until Justin comes home...

"tip"

Charlotte loves the song "I'm a little teapot". We can't just sing it once either. If she gets it in her head that we are singing and dancing this song, we really sing and dance this song - about 25 times. After each time she says "more tip". If I am not quick enough to start the song again "more tip, more tip, more tiiiiiiiiiiiip" as she gets louder and more desperate (read whiny) each time!!!

These pics are taken dancing "tip" in our driveway this afternoon after visiting the girls at daddy's office. Charlotte loves going there. She gets to talk on the phone, steal biscuits, stand on the desk, draw with highlighters, stick stickers all over her own and other's heads... and a range of other fun things.

She is currently blissfully asleep. Oh joy!

Much love, Jodie x

Happy 2nd Birthday little angel

Today is our precious Charlotte's second birthday. Happy birthday angel.

She has brought us such immense joy, and everyday is filled with more and more happiness because of her.  She is so sweet and loving, so affectionate and cuddly, busy and independent as well as clingy and tiring. She has such a loving nature and she adores people.

Every night before going to bed she says "no beep" (sleep) and then automatically asks for "more foote" (food) to delay being taken upstairs. This is swiftly followed by her asking for a drink or to sleep in "mine" (as she calls our bed). Of course she's taken into her own room where her cot and 30 dummies await her!!!

She loves chocolate and will do almost anything for some. We often get extra kisses and cuddles out of her this way. Trying to feed her anything else is a mission for me. Thankfully she also loves fruit and I sneak veges into her meals.

When she sits on my lap she likes to tuck her little feet up onto my lap and have them cupped in my hands, with her head right under my chin. The only problem is that now she is getting too tall to fit under my chin, yet she keeps trying to nestle in anyway.

She loves the camera and will often escort my clients into the studio, sit on the backdrop and pat the floor beside her, indicating to them what she knows they should be doing. She identifies herself in the photos around the house as "me me" and this has become a nickname for her.

She adores the wiggles and seems to know all the dance moves and many of the words. Her lack of co-ordination makes the dancing adorable. She has four "babies" (dolls) and loves feeding, bathing, "duddles" (cuddles) and giving them milk. Little girls are so sweet like that.

I wasn't sure what to buy her for her birthday... I thought maybe a trampoline, yet decided that can be her christmas gift when the weather is warmer. Then I thought a bike could be cool, yet she chose a scooter. I let her have her way!!! After having it sitting her for a few weeks, I started to change my mind and decided to return it and exchange it for the bike; thinking it's probably safer. A few days ago I was trying to sneak it into the car to exchange it when she caught me and was so excited to see her "bike" as she calls it I didn't have the heart to return it. We went to the shop and purchased her a helmet instead!

Today she received many gorgeous gifts and had very little concept of the whole thing still - which is quite sweet. She'd open one present and get so absorbed by it that she wouldn't want to open any others. It took us the whole afternoon and evening to get through 15 or so gifts with much influence from us. I'd be happy to leave them unopened and give them to her slowly over the next few months, yet of course I need to see what they all are so we can write our thank you cards... so maybe a few will disappear before morning and visit her again sometime soon!

One of her favourites was from her wonderful 'Beh Beh" (Beth). It is a guitar. Now she is just like Daddy and "Ma wee" (Murray) from the wiggles!

Here are a couple of shots from today. I didn't take many as it was just too busy to be host and photographer!

Anyway, Happy birthday again little angel. You are the world to us.

Lindi's pregnancy shoot

Today I had the pleasure of photographing the gorgeous Lindi and her husband Matt. And what a small world it is; it turns out Matt and I knew each other from when we were kids... so it was really lovely to reconnect with him again after so many years and also meet his lovely wife.

Lindi was a great sport getting into and holding those not-so-comfortable poses while pregnant - so a massive thank you to her for being so willing to try everything.

Here are a few shots from today's session.

Little people

Today is Freddie's 2nd birthday.

Charlotte and I would like to wish him an extra special Happy Birthday.

Freddie was Charlotte's first boyfriend.

This is a shot taken a few months ago just before he went to the UK to live.
He was NOT into kissing her that day, yet that was not always the case...

We miss you Freddie.

My little angel is going to turn two on Monday. I almost can't believe it. Everyone tells you when you have a newborn baby that it goes by so quickly - yet nothing can really prepare you for the reality of that...

I am loving this (almost) two so far. There were a few days about a month ago when I wasn't so sure, yet we're attributing her somewhat unsavoury behaviour back then to cutting her two year old molars! For those of you familiar with the book 'baby love', you will know that Robin Barker the author of said book will be strongly disagreeing with my theory - yet the chance of her reading my blog are minimal enough...

Anyway, this (almost) two is awesome. She copies everything I say (not always good)... everything I do (mostly good), yet she is just so much fun to be around. Life through the eyes of a toddler is just so cool. They see everything! She'll point out even the most mundane things now - just because she can!

She has a bunch of my vices - a massive love of chocolate; late nights and late mornings; a taste for beer; wiggling her butt to music without much co-ordination; and a constant need to talk.

I find her terribly funny. But of course I do!

I have a small spot on my face today. It's a rare thing (thankfully), yet it's there. Of course Charlotte noticed it when we were out and about today and made a big scene for me to get the wipes for her. I tried to explain that it won't wipe off, yet she insisted. It was just so darling watching the intensity of her efforts to get that damn tiny thing off my face! She was not impressed that it didn't budge, even with her dirty finger trying to rub it off. I then explained to her that it's a pimple, so the rest of the day was spent announcing it to anyone that was close enough to hear or see. Argh!

Yet... despite having a minor blemish announced to the world, or having to sing out loud, pull silly faces, be organised, always have food in the house and act a little more like a responsible adult, I love that I am a mummy. And I love that I have the opportunity to see life through another set of eyes all over again.

I also love my little person with all of my heart.

with love, Jodie x

"Ya Ya shower"

Miss Independent now wants to shower by herself in the mornings. She's still happy to invite us into her bath of an evening, yet kicks us out of our own shower so that she can luxuriate in the warmth all on her own. Not that you can blame her really. I am sure she doesn't get enough of the water when she's standing at our feet.

btw - she calls herself "Ya Ya" (as she's not so great at pronouncing Charlotte) or "Me Me" (after identifying the numerous photos of herself plastered around our house)

Daddy's a GREAT sport...

No day is ordinary with an (almost) 2 year old and I am so thankful every day that Charlotte chose us to be her mum and dad. Despite some testing, character building moments our life is full of joy.
I am also so very lucky to have married a gorgeous man and it's moments like these below (you know, the simple things), that I remember to appreciate him all over again.

Charlotte decided that she'd like her toenails painted this afternoon when she finally awoke after her 3 hour slumber... Sporting painted toenails myself, I was happy to fulfill this afternoon's wish for her.

With wiggling toes (and entire body come to think of it), I attempted to paint her tiny little nails. It's not a bad job really - all things considered, although I know my darling friend Jules (aka 'the nail fairy') may have some gentle suggestions for me...

After her nails were done, she wanted to show her daddy...
and then go one better...
she wanted him to have his nails painted...
by her!!!!!

Being a wonderful sport (and very secure in his masculinity), he allowed his little princess to work her magic... Here's the result:

I hope you're all having a great day too.

Much love , Jodie x

My Angel...

It would be remiss of me not to do a post for the smallest love of my life - Charlotte

She has had a camera aimed at her since she was born (as I am sure is the case for all children of photographers!!!), yet as she approaches two, she is not quite as willing as she once was...

These images were taken a couple of days ago and display some typical expressions.
The last one is her naughty look...

Beyond cheeky right now, yet I couldn't love her more...

Our word of the moment is "ridiculous".

Every day I whisper to her "it is ridiculous how much I love you"... she then whispers it
back as best as she can and we end up in fits of laughter.

For all the exhaustion and frustration that comes from parenting a toddler,
the joy and happiness far out-weighs any stress every single day.

Much love, Jodie x

recent shoots... a combined blog

I have a number of sneak peak galleries to get posted - this being a new blog site. So below you'll find a few of my recent shots of different little people.

This is Reece. She was such a sweet little poppet and as you can see, beyond gorgeous.
Here are two of my favourite shot from her session.

Below is the angelic Ruby. She was 11 weeks old and just edible.
I love the way she held her little hands together in the shoot - and those eyes! Wow
.

These lovely sisters Grace and Matilda were so very sweet. Grace has been photographed by me before when she was Matilda's age - so it was lovely to see her so grown up and even more beautiful than ever. Not only are these sisters different physically in a lot of ways, their personalities were total opposites adding to lots of fun on the day.

Now for some more lovely sisters - Kirsty and Nikki are such great friends too. They are without doubt the sweetest teenage girls I have ever met. This was probably one of my easiest shots too, which made it even more of a pleasure. These photos were a surprise birthday present for their mum...

And finally for this post, here is little Olive.

She is 10 months old and has just started crawling. She was very keen to crawl to Charlotte who was munching on chocolate to keep her quiet at the edge of the backdrop... yet every time Olive got near, she was dragged back to the back of the studio again. Thankfully she didn't seem to mind too much (although she never did get any chocolate)!

A special thank you to the wonderful mums and dads for bringing their little ones to me to be photographed. I hope you will treasure these photos for many, many years to come.

Love Jodie

My first ever blog...

Hi and welcome to my first ever blog! Thank you for coming to check it out. As you will notice if you try to look around the site, it's not quite finished; yet it will be very soon. I just couldn't wait any longer to post, so thought now was as good a time as any...

Actually, today is a good day for my first post because last week I entered the AIPP awards and today the images were judged. I am delighted to say that I scored a silver on the following image of my lovely friend Lori. I think she is such a gorgeous pregnant woman and I am so very grateful to her for allowing me to attempt this shot even though she was shy and self-conscious.

I also need to thank another great friend, whose name believe it or not, is also Lori. She very generously taught me this technique for achieving this pregnancy shot, so to her I am also so very thankful.

Today was pretty nerve wracking watching the judging because I am a complete newbie when it comes to photography competitions. There were two rooms running the judging simultaneously, and you had no idea where you image was or when it might come up on the screen. Needless to say, I missed most of mine!!!! I won't actually know all the results for my prints for at least a week, so if there is any more exciting news, you know you'll hear about it...

Being at the judging today was a great experience because it helped me to understand the type of photos that are  needed to win - and these are NOT the type of photo a client generally loves. So, I have resolved to take my camera with me much more often (although a tad difficult with a clingy toddler...), and try to get super creative for the next awards. Wish me luck (please!!!).

Anyway, thanks again for popping in. Please don't be a stranger. I'd love to read your comments on any/all posts, so please take a minute to leave one.

With love, Jodie x
